The Tennessee Art Therapy Association (TATA) was formed on September 13, 1993. TATA was begun in response to the following perceived needs of its first members: the need for personal support, the need for professional developement, the need for peer supervision, the need for increased awareness of new trends/developments in the filed of art therapy, and the need for a stucture/organization to promote awareness of Art Therapy as a valuable part of the mental health field in the state of Tennessee.
